God Is Still So Good

Today is July 7, 2020 and by now we have all been adapting to this new speed of life. What's craziest for me to think about is that none of us quite knew what was coming our way this year, but God did. He always knows and He is so much more powerful than anything we could be experiencing at this moment. He reminds us countless times in His word that He is looking out for us and always working for our good, even when we cannot see.
Psalm 147:5, Jeremiah 32:17, Isaiah 41:10.
To be completely honest with you, this time of transition has been very difficult for me. During my last few weeks in Iowa at my college, I was working on my student teaching when we got out for the regularly scheduled spring break. That was the week when the stay-at-home quarantine was beginning and I was finding myself in the midst of very deep loneliness as the college campus was mostly empty. My parents flew out to Iowa, we packed up my apartment, and a day later we were driving home to Arizona on the first of a 3 day trip. Looking back on this time, I can see how God was preparing me for the field, in teaching me to (once again) trust in Him and to find comfort in His presence.
Since being home, I have had lots of quality time with family, tried some new hobbies, put my teaching skills to use by tutoring a kindergartener, finished my first level of Spanish classes, and met with so many amazing supporters! It definitely has been a time of growth, encouragement, and God sure is refining me/my faith. I am so thankful for how He's been working and showing Himself to me. It remains so true that God continues to use this season to prepare my heart for the ways He will use me in service in the Dominican Republic.
Here's what the future plans are, with an understanding that everything is in God's timing and plan. I am currently taking a break from Spanish classes through Christian Spanish Academy in Guatemala. I will be traveling to North Carolina at the end of July to attend Center for Intercultural Training (CIT) for 6 weeks. Afterwards, I will pick back up on Spanish classes and hopefully continue through until proficiency level.
Thank you to all those of you who continue to pray for me, this ministry, the Dominican Republic, and the safety of the kids/missionaries/staff of the Kids Alive program. I hope you are finding some peace amidst the craziness and allowing yourself to have moments of stillness in listening to what God is speaking to each of us during this time. GOD IS STILL SO GOOD!
"I will meditate on the glorious splendor of Your majesty, and on Your wondrous works. Men shall speak of the might of Your awesome acts, and I will declare Your greatness. They shall utter the memory of Your great goodness, and shall sing of Your righteousness." Psalm 145:5-7
